    THE SERIES WAS HELD IN THE UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS, AND FEATURED TOP TEAMS FROM NIGERIA, UNITED ARAB REPUBLIC, GHANA, DAHOMEY, TOGO, LIBERIA, MALI, SUDAN AND KENYA.

    THE MEN'S SINGLES, BETWEEN NIGERIA'S LASSEY WILSON AND GHANA'S EMMAN QUAYE, PROVIDED AN EXCITING CLIMAX, WITH QUAYE GAINING REVENGE FOR HIS DEFEAT AT THE HANDS OF WILSON IN THE WEST AFRICAN SINGLES TITLE IN LIBERIA LAST JANUARY. QUAYE WON IN THREE STRAIGHT SETS, 21-17, 21-15, 21-11.

    THE WOMEN'S SINGLES ALSO WENT TO GHANA. ETHEL JACKS RETAINED THE TAALAT FARIA CUP AS SHE OUT-SCORED INAS EL DARWISH, OF THE UNITED ARAB REPUBLIC, IN A THRILLING FOUR-SET MATCH.

    OF THE FIVE CHAMPIONSHIPS DECIDED, NIGERIA WON ONE, GHANA THREE, AND THE UNITED ARAB REPUBLIC ONE.
