In all the United States government plans to pull out some 3,550 troops and more than 100 military aircraft from seven bases across Thailand - leaving an estimates 1,000 men and 600 planes.

Thai leaders say they consider the present military strength of the United States in their county would not now be necessary following the ending of American bombing of Khmer on August 15.

Thailand has been a major launching point for United States bombing missions throughout American involvement in the Indo-China conflict.

SYNOPSIS: The tour of duty in Thailand ended on Saturday for this American squadron, and the colours were ceremonially marched off and packed in a box, ready for return journey back to the United States ... along with the Squadron's A6 fighter-bombers. The pilots had until recently ben flying regularly on missions over Cambodia, but now the Thai Government has decided American military strength can be reduced as the bombing of Cambodia came to an end on August-the-fifteenth.

For the Thais working on the airbase it was a sad moment... and one market with due appreciation as the American pilots and crew prepared to leave. The squadron was withdrawn form Nam Phong, in the north-east of Thailand, as the first phase of a substantial U.S. military withdrawal form the country. In all the United States government will be pulling out some three-thousand-five-hundred-and-fifty troops and more than one hundred aircraft form seven bases across Thailand.

Just time for a last-minute chat, and some light hearted modifications to the A6 aircraft, which fly at twice the speed of sound. Then its' time for home. By the time the ??? phase of the withdrawal is complete, there'll be only one thousand American troops in Thailand..but six-hundred aircraft. American planes operating from Thai bases will continue to help move supplies to Kompong Cham, the besieged Cambodian city seventy-five miles north-east of Phnom Penh Thailand has been a major launching point for United States bombing missions throughout American involvement in the Indo-China conflict. While significantly reducing this military commitment in Thailand, President Nixon has no intention of ordering a full withdrawal in the foreseeable future, despite pressure form American Congress for a total pull-out from the Indo-China theatre.
