  • Description

Paris -- home of frivolity in fashion -- celebrated "National Lingerie Day," Oct. 15, with a parade of luxurious styles that all women will envy. The show, held in the George V Hotel, marked the fifth French lingerie exhibition.

Frothy, frilly, and guaranteed to give one that "expensive" feeling, the latest styles in underwear and night dresses show lingerie's development since Victorian times.

Morning coats in taffeta nylon emphasize that even in the early morning a woman can be attractively and fashionably dressed. Worn over a chemise nightgown, the coats are in various styles and colours, from flowered prints to brushed nylon with full, winged sleeves.

Full-length slips and waist-length petticoats are exquisitely embroidered and made from easy-to-wash quick-to-dry nylon fabrics.

The "Can Can" is recalled with underskirts in layer upon layer of multi-coloured crinoline tulle, permanently-pleated taffeta nylon petticoats.

In cotton - a non-creasing nightdress; and the "Baby Doll" style is still popular, with short pyjamas in white nylon Also in nylon - the jean-length pyjama trousers with loose blouse top.
