Background: A giant road transporter with 256 wheels manoeuvred gingerly about three kilometres (approx. two miles) from the Guts Hoffnung Hutte steelworks through the streets of Oberhausen, West Germany, down to a waiting Rhine barge on Saturday (16 June). The load was a mammoth atomic reactor weighing about 240 tons bound for a new power station down river at Biblis.

The huge vehicle was 68 metres long (yards), 8 metres high, and almost 8 metres. The combined weight of the transporter and its load was an incredible 662 tons.
