    The sixteenth session of the Lake Chad Basin Commission opened in Fort Lamy, Chad on Wednesday (13 December).

    Among projects discussed at the three-day conference were aerial photography of the basin, a plan for sharing water, and forest development.

    The experts also compared the way regulations differed in various countries concerning fishing, safety, health, and customs. They discussed establishing a commission to supervise production and marketing of livestock, meat and farm produce.

    SYNOPSIS: It lasted three days, under the chairmanship of Chad's Minister of Territorial Improvement and Housing, M. Abdoulays Djonouma.

    The Commission includes Niger, Nigeris, and Cameroun as well as Chad itself. The delegates discussed several major projects, including a development plan for water sharing and use.

    M. Djibrine Kherallah, the Chad Minister of State, represented President Tombalbays at the opening ceremony. He said it was essential for members to work together to find the solution to common problems. But the way would not be easy, and there were numerous difficulties to overcome. But, he added, the four nations would overcome them.
