  • Description

    Prince Charles, heir
to the British throne, stopped briefly at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York
Friday afternoon (28 January) on his way to school in Australia.

About 300 persons crowded behind velvet ropes inside the terminal building as
Charles left his Quantas Airways jetliner and walked to the V.I.P. suite to
await the next leg of his flight to San Francisco.

The Prince's father, the Duke of Edinborough, was aboard the plane that brought
    Charles to New York.

The Prince was dressed in a grey suit, tan sweater, blue striped shirt and blue
tie. He was greeted by acting British Consul General Charles Thompson and his
wife and acting Australian Consul General John Petherbridge. They joined him in
the suite while Charles sipped orange juice and chatted the time away.

At the airport to catch a glimpse of the future British monarch was a Prince
Charles Fan Club made up of teenage American girls. One of the pretty girls who
watched the Prince pose for phoyographers exclaimed: "He's Cute." When Prince
Charles arrives in Australian, he will go to Timbertog School, a division of the
Geelong Church of England Grammar School, in rugged country 140 Miles north of
    Melbourne.
