INTERVIEWER: "TO WIND UP, MR CHIPUNZA, WHAT WILL YOU SAY TO MR WILSON AND MR BOTTOMLEY WHEN THEY ARRIVE?"

CHIPUNZA: "WE WILL WELCOME HIM HERE AND WE HOPE THAT HE WILL BE ABLE TO SEE BOTH SIDES OF THE RHODESIAN PROBLEM, SO THAT WE CAN ARRIVE AT A SOLUTION THAT WILL BE ACCEPTABLE TO ALL RHODESIANS AND NOT TO SECTION."

INTERVIEWER: "AND FINALLY, ARE YOU DETERMINED ON ONE MAN ONE VOTE?"

CHIPUNZA: "ONE MAN ONE VOTE HAS NEVER BEEN A PANACEA TO OUR PROBLEMS. ALL WE WANT IS A SQUARE DEAL FOR ALL THE PEOPLE HERE. AND, AT THE MOMENT ONE COULDN'T SAY THAT WE ARE GIVING A SQUARE DEAL TO ALL THE PEOPLE IN RHODESIA."

INTERVIEWER: "AS A SUPPLEMENTARY QUESTION, COULD I HAVE YOUR COMMENTS ON THE NATIONALIST LEADERS, MR NKOMO AND MR SITHOLE?"

CHIPUNZA: "WELL, I KNOW BOTH GENTLEMEN VERY WELL. BUT THEY ARE IN RESTRICTION AND ONE I HAVE NOT HAD THE OPPORTUNITY OF GETTING IN TOUCH WITH THEM TO DISCUSS CURRENT PROBLEMS."

INTERVIEWER: "THEY HAVE GONE ABOUT THINGS VASTLY DIFFERENTLY TO YOURSELF. YOU HAVE TAKEN A CONSTITUTIONAL LINE. YOU HAVE STOOD FOR ELECTION AND HAVE BEEN ELECTED. MR NKOMO AND MR SITHOLE HAVE NOT DONE THIS. HOW DO THEY STAND IN THE EYES OF THE MASSES OF THE AFRICAN PEOPLE?"

CHIPUNZA: "WELL, THE METHODS TAKEN MAY BE DIFFERENT, BUT THE ASPIRATION ARE EXACTLY THE SAME."

INTERVIEWER: MR CHIPUNZA, THANK YOU VERY MUCH INDEED."

    CHIPUNZA: "THANK YOU."
