  • Description

ON TUESDAY, THE PARLIAMENTARY GROUP OF KADU MET TO DISCUSS FURTHER ACTION REGARDING THE OUTCOME OF THE LONDON TALKS ON KENYA'S CONSTITUTION.

THE MEETING WAS ATTENDED BY THE PARTY'S LEADER, MR NGALA, AND VICE-PRESIDENT MR MASINDE MULIRO.

(WHEN MR NGALA ARRIVED FROM THE LONDON TALKS ON MONDAY, HE SPOKE OF THE CHANGES IN THE CONSTITUTION AS LEAVING THE REGIONS LIKE "A LIVING PERSON WITH TWO BROKEN LEGS." BUT HE WENT ON: "THE REGIONS ARE STILL ALIVE -- THEY ARE NOT DEAD AND BURIED AS KANU WANTED IT." HE ACCUSED MR DUNCAN SANDYS OF DISHONORING THE ORIGINAL AGREEMENT, AND MR KENYATTA OF LEADING KENYA TO A "GHANA-TYPE" RULE.)
SOME REPORTS OF THE KADU MEETING SPEAK OF THE POSSIBILITY OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN KADU AND KANU. OTHERS SAY KADU HAS MERELY DECIDED TO POSTPONE -- BUT NOT DROP -- ITS AIM OF PARTITIONING THE COUNTRY, UNTIL THE EFFECTS OF THE CHANGES IN THE CONSTITUTION CAN BE SEEN.
