  • Description

CRACK INDONESIAN COMMANDO UNITS AND HEAD-HUNTING DYAK TRIBESMEN ARE ENGAGED IN A FIERCE JUNGLE WAR WITH AN ESTIMATED 2-THOUSAND CHINESE COMMUNISTS REBELS IN KALIMANTAN (INDONESIAN BORNEO).

HOWEVER, THE WAR WAS PRECEDED BY A WAVE OF TERROR AGAINST CHINESE CIVILIANS BY THE DYAKS, AFTER A NUMBER OF THE TRIBESMEN HAD BEEN MURDERED AND KIDNAPPED BY THE REBELS. MANY OF THE CHINESE WERE BEHEADED OR BURNED TO DEATH. AN ESTIMATED 40,000 CHINESE REFUGEES ARE NOW LIVING IN SQUALOR ALONG THE WEST COAST OF KALIMANTAN.

SOME OF THE REFUGEES ARE SO DESPERATE THAT THEY HAVE SOLD THEIR CHILDREN FOR MONEY TO BUT FOOD. MOST OF THEM ARE FARMERS AND TRADERS WHO WERE FORCED TO FLEE FROM THEIR VILLAGES IN THE JUNGLE INTERIOR.

BUT THE DYAKS HAVE EASED THEIR CAMPAIGN AGAINST CHINESE CIVILIANS AND HAVE JOINED COMMANDO "GREEN BERET" UNITS OF THE "SILIWANGI" DIVISION IN SEARCH AND DESTROY OPERATIONS AGAINST THE REBEL FORCES. THE DYAKS CARRY HOME-MADE MUZZLE LOADING RIFLES WHICH FIRE ANYTHING FROM NAILS TO STONES. HOWEVER, THEIR MOST ACCUSTOMED WEAPON IS THE KRISS, A LONG KNIFE WHICH IS USED TO BEHEAD VICTIMS.
