There are two competitors from South Africa this year, Miss South Africa and Miss Africa South.
Sixty five countries are represented in the 1970 Miss World contest. The final judging will be at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Friday 20 November.
SYNOPSIS: In London Miss Austria, Rosemarie Resch, and Miss Holland, patricia Hollman, chatted together at a reception for the competitors in the Miss World contest.
Sweden is represented by Maj Christal Johansson, a model, and Luxembourg by Rita Massard who is a hair stylist.
Seventeen-year-old Anna Scheving Hansdottir, who is secretary, is representing Iceland.
From South Africa come two competitors, Miss Africa South Pearl Gladys Jansen and Miss South Africa, Jillian Elizabeth Jessup, both twenty years old.
Marika de Poi, a twenty-year-old model, competes for Italy. Sandra Anna Wolsfeld from the United States took a tip from the toast master, while actor Telly Savalas made friends with Mary McKinley from Ireland and Hisayo Nakamura from Japan.
