Indian President V.V. Giri started a week of talks on bilateral relations and world affairs with Soviet leaders in Moscow on Wednesday (September 23). The Soviet delegation at the talks in the Kremlin was led by President Nikolai Podgorni.
President Giri is making his first state visit to the Soviet Union. He does not return home until the beginning of October.
Early talks between the Indian leader and President Podgorny centred on the Middle East crises. President Podgorny warned against American intervention in the Middle East, and President Giri called for an international effort to secure a lasting peace.
