ABOUT ONE AND FIFTY SPECTATORS AND TWO HUNDRED POLICE WATCHED SILENTLY TODAY (SATURDAY) AS THE SOVIET PREMIER, MR. KHRUSHCHEV BOARDED A SWEDISH NAVAL TORPEDO BOAT AT STOCKHOLM AT THE END OF HIS FIVE-DAY VISIT TO SWEDEN. IT WAS ONE OF THE QUIETEST FAREWELLS THE SOVIET PREMIER HAS EXPERIENCED IN ANY COUNTRY.

THE CEREMONY TOOK PLACE IN WHAT IS DESCRIBED AS A "FRIGID" ATMOSPHERE. MEMBERS OF THE SOVIET EMBASSY STAFF WERE THE ONLY ONLOOKERS TO APPLAUD AS THE SOVIET PREMIER BOARDED THE BOAT. ONE SENIOR AIR FORCE OFFICER SAID HE BELIEVED THE COOL PUBLIC REACTION WAS A "POINTED SNUB" BECAUSE OF MR. KHRUSHCHEV'S FAILURE TO THROW ANY LIGHT ON THE FATE OF WALLENBERG, A SWEDISH DIPLOMAT ARRESTED BY THE RUSSIANS IN BUDAPEST IN 1945.

IN A FAREWELL SPEECH ON THE QUAYSIDE MR. KHRUSHCHEV SPOKE OF AN "HONEST EXCHANGE OF VIEWS" IN HIS TALKS WITH GOVERNMENT MINISTERS, AND THE "INTERESTING" CONTACTS HE HAD MADE WITH THE SWEDISH WORKING PEOPLE. HE SAID THAT SWEDISH NEUTRALITY WAS "A GREAT CONTRIBUTION TO THE STRENGTHENING OF PEACE IN NORTHERN EUROPE."
ON HIS WAY TO OSLO, THE NEXT STOP ON HIS SCANDINAVIAN TOUR, MR. KHRUSHCHEV SENT A CABLE TO MR. TAGE ERLANDER, THE SWEDISH PRIME MINISTER, THANKING HIM FOR HIS "WARM RECEPTION". HE SAID THAT THE SOVIET PARTY LEFT SWEDEN "WITH AGREEABLE IMPRESSIONS OF YOUR HOSPITABLE COUNTRY."
