    At Bordeaux's Palais de Justice, after a four-day hearing, French pharmacist Jacques Cazenave was given Dec 4 an 18-month suspended jail sentence for negligence in selling an arsenic-tainted baby powder that caused 73 deaths, 290 injuries and was ordered to pay GBP5,000 in damages.

    After the verdict, Mr. Cazenave left the court with his lawyer and members of his family.

    Mr. Cazenave was laboratory director of a company producing baby powder. The deaths of 73 babies occurred 1952-3.
