Background: Dr. Fidel Castro was filmed Jan 26 at Caracas University where before a crowd of 10,000, the Cuban rebel leader was honoured with a diploma by Venezuelan student in reward for his "courageous struggle". Castro replied by donating five Bolivares (Ten shillings) to help finance a campaign to overthrow Dominican Republic 'dictator' Rafael Trujillo. Within minutes the crowd added a substantial amount of money to Castro's gift.

With Castro on the Podium was Rineldo Sintiago, leader of the Dominican Republic Patriotic Party in Venezuela, who urged his followers to give their lives for freedom of the Dominican Republic.

In his speech of thanks for the honour bestowed upon him, Dr. Castro expressed his bitterness against America and Britain for the military aid given to Batista's regime.

Trujillo is reported to have purchased several jet fighters in Canada.
