Background: After some early reverses, the Arab peace mission in Cairo appears to have produced a cease-fire agreement in Jordan between King Hussein and the Palestinian guerrillas.
The cease-fire came on Thursday after a secret meeting with guerrilla leader Yasser Arafat, arranged by the Sudanese President Jaafar Nimeiry.
The meeting between President Nimeiry of Sudan and Yasser Arafat is reported to have taken place in the heart of Amman after an exchange of radio messages. President Nimeiry said afterwards that he was asked by Arafat to read the statement calling for a cease-fire. It said that he agreed to cease-fire in response to the appeal by the peace mission sent by Arab kings and heads of state meeting in Cairo.
