    FRANCE LED FROM ITALY, BRITAIN AND SWITZERLAND. NINETEEN COUNTRIES ARE COMPETING. TODAY'S EVENTS INCLUDED THE FINAL OF THE MEN'S TRICK SKIING AND THE FIRST ROUND OF THE WOMEN'S SLALOM.

    JACQUES TILLEMENT OF FRANCE WON THE MEN'S TRICKS FINAL WITH A TOTAL OF 8,332 POINTS. BONNET OF SWITZERLAND (7,585) WAS SECOND WITH KARL BENZINGER OF WEST GERMANY THIRD WITH 7,543 POINTS. LUIGI ZUCCHI, THE 16 YEAR OLD ITALIAN CHAMPION FINISHED FIFTH. EARLIER IN THE DAY ZUCCHI, WHO IS BLIND IN ONE EYE, HAD TAKEN A FIRST ROUND LEAD IN THE MEN'S SLALOM.

    AT THE END OF THE FIRST ROUND OF THE WOMEN'S SLALOM, JEANETTE STEWART-WOOD OF BRITAIN WAS IN FIRST PLACE. SHE NEGOTIATED 20 1/2 BUOYS, MORE THAN TWICE AS MANY AS HER NEAREST RIVAL, SULVIE MURIAL OF FRANCE. SLYVIE HURSEMANN, LUXEMBOURG'S 23-YEAR-OLD FORMER WORLD TITLE HOLDER, WAS IN THIRD PLACE.
