Background: Ex-King Saud of Saudi Arabia arrived in Greece today (Saturday) amid speculation that he might be taking up permanent residence in Greece again.
The former monarch, who is 65, disembarked with his party from the liner Al-Gazayer. Then the ex-King and his entourage were escorted to a seaside hotel near Athens by a police motorcade.
Ex-King Saud - dethroned in 1964 by his brother, the present King Faisal - took up residence in Egypt last December after living in Greece for several years. He was reported in Cairo as having said that he was ready to the death to regain his lost throne.
His arrival in Greece today, coupled with recent Middle East events and a reconciliation between King Faisal and United Arab Republic President Nasser, has led to speculation that he might be returning to Greece permanently.
