The 45th Indian Science Conference was inaugurated at Madras, today, by Indian Prime Minister Nehru. More than 75 eminent foreign scientists were among those present.
A team of 15 high-ranking Russian scientists, led by the vice president of the Soviet academy, attended the conference together with Chinese, Polish, Czechoslovakian representatives. The British Commonwealth was represented by scientists from the United Kingdom and from Australia.
Mr. Nehra, in an inaugural speech, called for close and peaceful cooperation between all the scientists of the world.
