  • Description

President Sadat reiterate home to an enthusiastic welcome at Cairo Airport on Wednesday (23 January) at the end of a whirlwind tour of consultations with other Arab leaders, discussing the disengagement agree-ment with Israel.

Rabat, Morocco, was the last stage of President Sadat's tour. He arrived there on Tuesday (22 January) for talks with King Hassan. The Egyptian leader has been reassuring Arab leaders that his country will not attend Geneva Peace Conference without the presenco of Syrian and Palestinian representatives. He has stressed the urgency of disengaging forces on the Syrian front as a condition for peace talks. Besides Morocco the President visited Saudi Arabia, Syria, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Abu Dhabi and Algeria during his 11,000 mile (18, 000 kilometres) marathon.

Observers in Cairo have hinted that President Sadat is now set for an internal reorganisation. He interrupted consultations on government changes including the formation of a new cabinet, to hold talks with U.S. Secretary of Sate Dr. Henry Kissinger. The talks resulted in the separation agreement between Egyptian and Israeli forces on the Suez Canal front. Dr. Abdel-Aziz Hagazi is thought by observers to be a likely candidate for the office of Prime Minister. At present, he is the Deputy Prime Minister and Economic Minister.
