  • Description

The 1968 Olympics in Mexico are likely to be seen in colour in Britain on BBC Television. The Director-General of the BBC.

Sir Hugh Greene, has been taking part in the signing of a half million-pound agreement in Mexico City with the Games organisers which provides for colour telecasts from the main arena and the other games sites via communications satellites to Britain and then to other countries in both East and West Europe.

The Games will be held in the autumn of next year. The transmission across the Atlantic of colour television has been made possible by an invention of BBC engineers -- a colour converter. A report from Colin Riach.
