French Railways offer a new, fast train service on the Paris-Nice daily run - the "Mistral" express. It covers the 680-mile journey in 10 1/2 hours. On the route from Paris to Lyons - electrified line - the train is reported to have achieved a world record by covering the 320 miles in 4 hours - an average speed of 80 miles per hour. On the Paris/Marseilles route the average speed is not so high as the track is not electrified. "Mistral" leaves Paris just after 1 p.m. and arrives at Nice before midnight. One the return trip next day, it leaves the mediterranean resort at noon and reaches Paris before 11 p.m.

A gentle circulation of air constantly wafts through the compartments of "Mistral" which, combining speed and luxury, has a Pullman car, a bar, and beautifully appointed first class coaches.
