    The Queen's birthday is celebrated by British subjects and friendly foreigners in all parts of the world - including Tokyo.

    At the British Embassy in the Japanese capital -- which survived the bombing of World War II -- the occasion brings together, below a portrait of the ???eon, about twelve hundred notables It is a friendly get-together between top-level Japanese and members of the local British Community.

    The prominent guests include Prince Takamatsu, brother of Emperor Hirohito; Princess Chichibu, whose late sportsman consort was once a student at Cambridge; Prime Minister Nobusuke Kishi, virtually all other members of his Cabinet, and many VIP's from Japanese's business and industrial world. The Japanese Prime Minister is scheduled to leave Japan in the early part of next month on a goodwill tour to Great Britain and other European countries.

    Acting as host are Ambassador Sir Oscar Morland and Lady Morland -- both of them long time residents of Japan and the Ambassador fluent in the Japanese language -- and other members of the Embassy Staff.

    Music is furnished by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Band.
