Arsenal beat West Ham by two goals to nil at Highbury in London today, 9th January. The victory brings Arsenal within one point of Leeds United at the top of the first division league table. It also reflects the absence of Moore, Greaves and Dear from the West Ham side.
Arsenal attacked from the kick-off. But West Ham held them at bay until the end of the first half when Graham headed the ball past Ferguson. In the second half, Sammels kicked a shot into the side netting and the referee signalled a goal. But after protests from West Ham and consultation with the linesmen, he reversed his decision. Arsenal's second goal came from Kennedy who headed the ball past Ferguson with eleven minutes to go.
In the absence of Bobby Moore, Billy Bonds captained the West Ham side.
