After being received with full honours at the airport by Emperor Haile Selassie, General Mobutu and his wife were guests at the Jubilee Palace for a state dinner.
General Mobutu left for Peking on Sunday after talks with officials of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) at the organization's headquarters in Addis Ababa. He is the first Zaire Head of State to be an official guest of the Chinese Government.

Emperor Haile Selassie greeted the leader of the Central African nation with full honours at Addis Ababa's Bola airport.
The Emperor was flanked by members of the royal family, as well as senior cabinet and army officials.
As General Mobutu and Madame Mobutu emerged, they were greeted warmly by the Emperor.
During the visit, General Mobutu conferred with officials of the Organization for African unity before flying out to Peking on Sunday. He is the first Zaire head of state to be a special guest there.
Before leaving for a state dinner in honour of the visit, both leaders took the salute of a special guard of honour.
