MR. LEE WAS SPEAKING DURING A QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSION AFTER A PRIVATE LUNCHEON WITH MEMBERS OF THE CONFEDERATION OF BRITISH INDUSTRY IN LONDON.

    MR. LEE TOLD THE CBI MEMBERS: "IF YOU ARE SHORT OF CAPITAL AND HAVE THE EXPERTISE, A LOT OF LOCAL CAPITAL CAN COME".

    SINGAPORE PLACED GREAT EMPHASIS ON GETTING MANAGEMENT AND PRODUCTION EXPERTISE AND THE GOVERNMENT WAS WILLING TO FACILITATE PERMANENT ESTABLISHMENT OF OVERSEAS COMPANIES, HE SAID.

    EARLIER IN THE DAY MR. LEE HAD TALKS WITH OPPOSITION CONSERVATIVE PARTY LEADERS AND ALSO HAD A PRIVATE AUDIENCE WITH QUEEN ELIZABETH AT BUCKINGHAM PALACE.
