    CELEBRATIONS HAVE BEEN TAKING PLACE IN CAIRO TO MARK THE FORMATION OF THE UNITED ARAB REPUBLIC FIVE YEARS AGO.THE EVENT IS STILL HELD ALTHOUGH ONE OF THE PARTNERS IN THE UNION, SYRIA, BROKE WITH EGYPT EIGHTEEN MONTHS AGO.

    PRESIDENT NASSER OF THE UNITED ARAB REPUBLIC ADDRESSED 20,000 SUPPORTERS IN A RALLY LAST NIGHT (THURSDAY) ON THE EVE OF THE ANNIVERSARY.HE WAS ACCOMPANIED BY A SPECIAL IRAQI REPRESENTATIVE, VICE-PREMIER ALY SALEH SAADI, WHO WAS LEADING A DELEGATION FROM IRAQ.

    OTHER MEMBERS OF THE IRAQI DELEGATION INCLUDED: TALEB HUSSEIN SHABIB (MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS); GENERAL SALEH MAJED AMASH (MINISTER OF DEFENCE) AND FOUAD AREF (MINISTER).

    TO ENTHUSIASTIC CHEERS, ALY SALEH SAA'I SAID: "OUR REVOLUTION OPENS THE DOORS FOR A FRANK MEETING BETWEEN CAIRO AND BAGHDAD, AND ALSO A MEETING BETWEEN THEM AND ALL LIBERATED ARAB NATIONS...."
    IN HIS SPEECH, PRESIDENT NASSER PLEDGED WHOLEHEARTED SUPPORT FOR IRAQ'S NEW GOVERNMENT, FOLLOWING THE OVERTHROW OF THE FORMER IRAQI HEAD OF STATE, GENERAL KASSEM IN AN ARMY REVOLT.

    PRESIDENT NASSER SAID THAT A CAMPAIGN HAD ALREADY BEGUN TO TRY TO SPOIL RELATIONS BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES, BUT IT WOULD BE FOILED.HE DESCRIBED THE IRAQ REVOLT AS A REVOLUTION OF ALL ARABS.
