    Units of the Canadian Navy arrived at Helsinki today on a three-day visit. It is the first time Canadian ships have come to Finland.

    The flotilla comprised HMSC St. Laurent, flying the flag of Commodore Angus George Boulton, HMSC. Sagvenay, HMSC Assiniboine, HMSC Haida, HMSC Micmac, and HMSC Nootka. On board the ships were ninety officers, four hundred non commissioned officers, and nine hundred other ranks.

    The official visit commenced with a courtesy call by the Commodore to the Presidential Palace. During the afternoon the Press was invited to a conference aboard HMSC St. Laurent, and later the same day Finland's Defence Minister Mr Malinen went aboard and was given a formal welcome by the Canadian Navy.

    Helsinki was thronged by spectators to great the Canadians. Sailors are popular the world over, and during the afternoon the crews went ashore on sightseeing tours and other entertainments.
