    The 55th Anniversary of the end of the Russian October Revolution was celebrated by Soviet troops stationed in East Germany on Monday (7 November). During the morning a detachment of the Soviet Guard Regiment, together with its military band, crossed into the British sector of West Berlin to lay a commemorative wreath at the Soviet War Memorial there. Also present at the ceremony were members of the Soviet Embassy in East Berlin and members of the Eastbloc Diplomatic Corps, led by the Soviet Ambassador to East Germany, Mr. Michail Yefremov, and General Eugen Ivanovsky.....Commander in Chief of Soviet Forces in East Germany.

    SYNOPSIS: Soviet troops stationed in East Germany have been celebrating the 55th Anniversary of the ending of the Russian october Revolution. On Monday morning a detachment of the Soviet Guard Regiment crossed into the British sector of West Berlin to take part in a special wreath-laying ceremony at the Soviet War Memorial. The detachment of Guards carried commemorative wreaths as they marched in alow-time to the memorial, where they were placed in a brief and simple ceremony.

    The Soviet Guards had brought a military band with them. Also present were senior members of the Soviet Embassy in East Berlin, and the Eastbloc Diplomatic Corps.
