Background: Mrs. Edith Irving arrived in Zurich on Monday (4 september) from New York to face Swiss charges in connection with her husband Clifford's bogus biography of American millionaire Howard Hughes.
Irving is already serving a one-and-a-half year prison term in the United States for his part in the affair, which only came to light when Hughes ended years of reclusion to denounce the Irving book as a fraud.
Swiss-born Mrs. Irving has just served a two-month jail sentence in the U.S. for her part in the heax. On arrival in Zurich with her two children--Nedsky, four, and two-year-old Barney--she said she had been treated very fairly in America, and hoped "to get the same fair and humane treatment in Switzerland."
Swiss authorities say that the blonde, attractive Mrs. Irving will face one charge of fraud and two of forgery.
