  • Description

A huge diamond -- the "Light of Peace", the largest cut pear-shaped stone its kind in the world has gone on public display in Miami, Florida.

It's a beautifully cut shimmering stone that will never adorn the neck of a pretty rich-woman.

The diamond, worth 5 million U. S. dollars, (GPB 2,083,000 sterling)went on display at Miani's Museum of Science. And the proceeds from the exhibition will be donated to local charities throughout the United States.

The 130 carat diamond took a full year to examine and another year to cut.

And when it is moved for any reason the "Light of Peace" is protected by armed guards and an armoured truck.
