As the crime wave continued May 15/16, a concentrated force of police and two companies of the King's African Rifles centred on the district to hunt the murderers. A curfew has been imposed: Africans must remain in doors between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.
European farmers are in the process of checking their exiting defences and making improvements where necessary. Some are even considering sending their wives and families either to Nairobi or out of Kenya altogether. Some older inhabitants, however, say that under no circumstances will they leave the farms that they made out of virgin lands many years ago.
The Kenya Police Reserve - manned by volunteers from the farming communities - are assisting the police and Army, having detailed knowledge of the area.
