Background: With characteristic gusto the 1960 Calgary Stampede thundered into nation. Cowboys and cowgirls, bucking broncos and snorting steers, covered wagons and all the excitement and colour that the stampede presents every year.

Canadian Premier John Diefenbaker and his wife attended the show. Below them in the arena wagons raced, guns fired, cowboys 'yippeed' and yodelled. Before the day was out there were many a bruised dignity......and many a rewarding kisses, from the cowgirls on hand presenting prizes.
