Aboard the State yacht 'Galeb' President Tito of Yugoslavia and his wife arrived at Tunis April 9 to begin a six-day official visit to Tunisia. They were met on the quayside by President Bourguiba, who introduced them to M. Ferhat Abbas, leader of the "Algerian Provisional Government in Exile".
After inspecting a guard of honour and further introductions to members of the Tunisian Cabinet, and the Diplomatic Corps, the two Presidents drove through the city streets in an open car. Dense crowds lined their route. Police had an impossible task holding them back, and in several places well wishers surged forward, completely blocking the Presidential car's progress.
Completely surrounded by a sea of smiling faces and outstretched hands, the two Presidents looked as if they thoroughly enjoyed the situation. President Bourguiba had a kiss for a little girl who presented him with a floral garland, and President Tito did his best to shake every proffered hand.
Continuing his eight-weeks tour of Africa, President Tito has so far made official visits to Ghana, Togoland, Liberia, and Morocco. From Tunisia he is scheduled to make an unofficial visit to the United Arab Republic.
