Background: Although Australia's Test cricketers are now touring overseas, there'll be three international matches here in Australia this season -- women's cricket. The English women's team reached Sydney today in the liner "Monowai" after their recent tour of New Zealand.
Managing the side is Netta Rheinberg -- her second Australian tour. All-rounder Mary Duggan was also here before; this time she's captain. Only five of the team have played in previous Test matches. From Surrey, spin-bowler Edna Barker. Another of the sixteen is the wicket-keeper Helen Sharp who was welcomed by the New South Wales allrounder Hazel Buck.
The touring English team will play its first match at Bathurst on Saturday. They'll meet Australia in Test matches at Sydney, Melbourne and Perth in this first visit here by an English women's team since 1949.
