Background: In a statement from the Cuban Foreign Ministry in Havana, Dec. 6, it was learned that the Paraguayan Charge d'Affaires, Dr. Juan Virginio Clemotte, and all members of the Legation had been ordered to leave the country. Soon after the statement Dr. Clemotte was making ready to close his legation and fly back to Asuncion.
A Ministry spokesman said the order was issued after the Paraguayan Government had refused to accept the credentials of the Cuban Charges d'Affaires, Hector Gallo, who had been sent to Asuncion two weeks ago.
If Paraguay accepts Gallo's credentials, then the Cuban Foreign Ministry will withdraw the expulsion order.
