    Admiral Thomas Moorer, Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, paid a one-day flying visit to Phnom Penh, capital of the Khmer Republic, on Saturday, for talks with Government leaders on the American military aid programme for the Khmer Republic.

    His stopover visit was on his way from Saigon to Bangkok.

    In a comment to reporters at a press conference, he expressed the personal hope that his country would re-establish its Foreign Aid Programme despite the recent adverse vote on Aid in the Senate.

    SYNOPSIS: The Chairman of the United States Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Thomas Moorer made a one-day flying visit to Phnom Penh, capital of the Khmer Republic, on Saturday, to talk with Government leaders about the U.S. military aid programme in the Khmer Republic. He was welcomed at the airport by the U.S. ambassador.

    Later at a Press Conference, Admiral Moorer expressed a personal Hope that his country would re-establish its Foreign Aid Programme, despite the recent adverse vote on Aid in the Sects. He said that the United States was continuing to train Khmer Republic forces and supply them as in the pest. The Khmer depend heavily on the United States for most of their war supplies and also for general economic aid. Asked about raising the armed forces' strength in the Khmer Republic to 500,000, Admiral Moorer declined to comment. He also would make no predictions on the next withdrawals from South Vietnam.
