  • Description

The chief representatives at the United Nations of Britain, the United States, the Soviet Union and France met again yesterday (September 2nd), at the headquarters of the Soviet Mission, to see what they could do to get the suspended Middle East peace talks going again.

The four Ambassadors had nothing to say officially when they emerged from their 2-hour meeting.

Israel has withdrawn from the peace talks for the time being, to consider what attitude to take to the alleged violations of the ceasefire by Egypt.

Reports from the United Nations say that the Ambassadors disagreed about whether Israel was justified in her stand, but decided not to interfere with the work of the United Nations special envoy, Dr. Jarring. They concentrated at this meeting on discussing what issues Dr. Jarring would take up with the representatives of Egypt, Jordan and Israel when the full negotiations begin again.
