  • Description

By Peggy Massin, Reuters Correspondent, Paris, Reuter - Paris has opened the world's first "supermarket for millionaires" in good time for Christmas shopping.

Called "La Grande Boutique", it sells every imaginable kind of luxury goods under one roof.

The idea was that of M. Maurice Noyer, a former director of the Maison Dior.

No other shop in Paris can boast such a concentrated assortment of costly gifts as M. Noyer has collected at "La Grands Boutique". Millionaires delete from their shopping list mink, diamonds and pearls as easily as most people cross off items on a grocery list.

Situated in the smart new West-End shopping area of Paris, just off the Avenue Georges V, it occupies premises whose ground floor used to belong to the late couturier, Jacques Fath.

Monsieur Noyer is well aware that every leading couture house in Paris has its own boutique. But, he says, these shops sell only goods manufactured and sold under the individual name of each designer.
