Background: The Canadian Trade Mission in the United Kingdom, which is proving so successful, yesterday (December 5) took the visiting delegates to Crewe, Cheshire, for a tour of the Rolls Royce factory.
This, and other visits to various Northern industrial plants, led the High Commissioner for Canada, Mr. George Drew, to say that the mission so far had been completely successful in every way and had achieved results far beyond those expected in this stage.
The Rolls Royce visit enabled the Canadian delegates a first-hand appraisal of 'the World's Finest Motor Car' in production and the various other, and more commercial enterprises of the famous engineering concern.
They saw the very latest in the long line of luxury cars - the 40 litre 'Silver Cloud', they saw the elegant, exquisite - and expensive (around a cool 8 1/2 thousand pounds)- Silver Wraith.
Skilled engineers assembled the high-precision Rolls Royce engines, chassis, gearboxes, while the delegates toured the large factory. Others worked on super bulldozers, torque-converters for all purpose, including railway cars, the world-renowned Rolls Royce aero engines.
Rolls Royce, incidentally, is making a special car suitable for the Canadian market and establishing a large sales network in Canada to distribute it. The Mission learned this during yesterday's visit.
