    Background: A FIVE-MAN BRITISH PARLIAMENTARY DELEGATION ON TUESDAY PRESENTED TO ZAMBIA'S NATIONAL ASSEMBLY A NEW SPEAKER'S CHAIR, A GIFT FROM THE BRITISH HOUSE OF COMMONS. THE CEREMONY TOOK PLACE IN THE ASSEMBLY BUILDING IN LUSAKA, THE ZAMBIAN CAPITAL.

    THE PRESENTATION WAS MADE BY MR. AUSTEN ALBU, A LABOUR MP AND LEADER OF THE BRITISH DELEGATION. OTHERS IN THE PARLIAMENTARY PARTY WERE SIR JOHN HOBSON, SIR JOHN LANGFORD-HALL, MR. GEORGE WALLACE, AND MR. D.W.S. LIDDERDALE.

    THE CHAIR IS MADE OF ZAMBIAN WOOD AND HAS SMALL LOUDSPEAKERS SET IN EACH SIDE. THE LOUDSPEAKERS ARE ALIGNED WITH THE SPEAKER'S EARS, SOT THAT HIS CLERK CAN COMMUNICATE DURING DEBATE.

    EXPRESSING HIS THANKS, THE SPEAKER, MR. WESLEY NYIRENDA, SAID "ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS" AND CALLED ON BRITAIN TO TAKE ACTION ON RHODESIA.

    AT THE SAME CEREMONY THE ISRAELI AMBASSADOR TO ZAMBIA, COLONEL BEN ZION TEHAN, PRESENTED THE SPEAKER WITH A COPY OF THE OLD TESTAMENT IN ENGLISH AND HEBREW FOR USE BY THE HOUSE.

    THE BRITISH DELEGATION IS ON AN EIGHT-DAY VISIT TO ZAMBIA.
