THE COMPANIES' RESPONSES WERE IN THE FORM OF NEWSPAPER ADVERTISEMENTS IN THE BRITISH NATIONAL SUNDAY NEWSPAPERS.

    THE BMC ADVERTISEMENT SAID THE COMPANY HAD HOPED TO BE ABLE TO REPORT THAT ITS THREE MINI-MINORS HAD WON THE RALLY FAIRLY AND SQUARELY. THE COMPANY HAS ALWAYS BEEN METICULOUS IN ITS COMPLIANCE WITH THE RALLY REGULATIONS.

    CASTROL'S ADVERTISEMENT CONGRATULATED THE BRITISH CREWS WHICH IT NAMED AS 'THE FIRST FOUR HOME'.

    THE BRITISH RALLY DRIVERS RETURNED TO LONDON TODAY. PADDY HOPKIRK, THE DRIVER OF ONE OF THE DISQUALIFIED CARS, SAID THAT THERE WAS A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF ANTAGONISM FROM THE FRENCH.
