    THE DENISON CAN HANDLE NINE-FOOT WAVES AND HAS A RANGE OF 385 MILES.IT'S POWERED BY AN AIRPLANE JET ENGINE DEVELOPING OVER 16,000 HORSEPOWER.ON REACHING A SPEED OF 30 KNOTS THE VESSEL RISES OUT OF THE WATER AND SKIMS ALONG ON ITS HYDROFOILS.

    U.S.SECRETARY OF COMMERCE, LUTHER HODGES, IN FORMALLY ACCEPTING THE SHIP FROM THE BUILDERS, PREDICTED THAT HYDROFOILS WOULD PROGRESSIVELY SOME INTO SERVICE ON WATER ROUTES LINKING MAJOR U.S.CITIES.

    HE SAID THE VESSEL INCORPORATED A NUMBER OF ENGINEERING DEVELOPMENTS AND WAS THE MOST ADVANCED HYDROFOIL IN THE WORLD.IT WILL BE SENT ON DEMONSTRATION RUNS TO EAST COAST PORTS AND LATER SOLD.
