On his second day in Berlin, Mr. Kruschev warned Britain and France that West Germany's policy was preparing for an atomic war. Speaking in the East German Lower House, the Soviet Communist Party Leader said:
"It must be realised that in our time mass destruction weapons are able to turn prosperous countries into deserts. People preparing atomic war in West Germany must keep this in mind. It will be there especially that in a future catastrophe atomic bombs will fall."
Britain and France, added Mr. Kruschev, were within range of atomic weapons and "should think carefully about this".
The Soviet leader then said that Russia was prepared to withdraw all their troops from Poland, Hungary and Rumania, if the United States would pull out of Western Germany, Britain and France.
