    REPORTER: WHAT OF THE LACK OF PROTEIN THAT HAS BEEN REPORTED?"



    DREWRY: "I THINK THERE IS - BUT I THINK THAT THERE ARE ADEQUATE STOCK-PILES AT PORT HARCOURT AND OTHER PLACES, AND I AM POSITIVE THAT THE ARMY WILL BE ABLE TO SUPPLEMENT."



    REPORTER: "HAVE YOU SEE THAT THE ARMY HAS ALREADY SUPPORTED THE REFUGEES?"



    DREWRY: "YES - I SAW IT HAPPEN IN A MATTER OF AN HOUR."



    CHIEF ENAHORO: "THE POSITION IS THAT THE MASS MOVEMENT OF POPULATION HAS STOPPED. THE COMMANDERS TELL US THAT MOVEMENT IS NOW BACK TO NORMAL. THERE IS NO FIGHTING GOING ON, CONTACT HAS NOT YET BEEN MADE WITH A FEW UNITS WHICH ARE NOT OF ANY, OF ANY SIZABLE NUMBERS - THOSE WHO WENT INTO HIDING AND SO ON - BUT THE MAJORITY OF THE REBEL FORCES HAVE LAID DOWN THEIR ARMS AND HAVE SURRENDERED."

CANADA'S BRIGADIER GENERAL JOHN DREWRY STATED THAT THERE WAS SUFFICIENT FOOD TO PREVENT THE DYING OF MILLIONS AS PRESAGED BY GENERAL ODUMEGWU OJUKWU. AT ANOTHER PRESS CONFERENCE ON THE SAME DAY, FEDERAL NIGERIA'S CHIEF ANTHONY ENAHORO, DECLARED THAT THE MAJORITY OF THE REBEL FORCES HAD ALREADY SURRENDERED AND THAT NO FIGHT WAS GOING ON ANYWHERE.

    IN THEIR OFFICIAL REPORT, THE OBSERVER TEAM STATED THAT THEY HAD SEEN CONSIDERABLE NUMBERS OF REFUGEES IN THE FORMER SECESSIONIST AREAS, BUT HAD NOT SEEN ANY EVIDENCE OF GENOCIDE.

    ONE OF THE FIRST QUESTIONS POSED TO CANADA'S BRIGADIER GENERAL JOHN DREWRY ASKED HIM WHETHER HE WAS SUGGESTING THAT THERE WAS ENOUGH FOOD AVAILABLE TO FEED THE FIVE MILLION PEOPLE WHO MIGHT BE GOING HUNGRY IN BIAFRA. THE CANADIAN OBSERVER REPLIED:
    AS OBSERVERS MADE THEIR REPORT, ANOTHER PRESS CONFERENCE WAS HELD BY FEDERAL NIGERIA'S COMMISSIONER FOR LABOUR AND INFORMATION CHIEF ANTHONY ENAHORO, WHO STATED:
