A big crowd turned out to watch the British Water Skiing Championships at Biggleswade, 50 miles (80KM) from London on Sunday (29 July)
The Championships - held for the first time at Biggleswade Reservoir - was a warm-up for the World Water Skiing championships due to be held in Bogota in September, and it gave the competitors a chance to practice under the right conditions for the European Championships next month in Brussels.

The Water Skiing Federation of Great Britain chose Biggleswade for Sunday's national event to give more people in a new area a chance to watch the events. About four thousand people lined the banks of the reservoir to watch P. Seaton, the overall winner, take off the highest score to eventually win the trophy as Britain's top Water Skier.
