  • Description

Some of the world's top motorcycle riders took part in the first of a series of motorcross events in Dallas, Texas at the weekend (2 March).

The events, for motorcycles of five-hundred and 250-cc's, were run on an artificial course of a third of a mile (0.53 kms.).

The American Open-Class Champion, Jim Weinert, was favourite for the five-hundred event, but was beaten by a Texan, Steven Stackables.

The two-hundred-and-fifty-cc event went to a teenager, Jimmy Ellis, who won three of his four events.
