    About 350 delegates and aides from 20 American republics, together with 14 observers, mostly from Europe, attended the inaugural session of the Inter-American Economic Conference.

    Specially invited to speak was General Pedro Aramburu, Argentina's Provisional President. He was preceded by his Treasury Minister, Dr. Adalberto Krieger Vasena, President of the Conference, and Dr. Jose A. Mora, Secretary General of the Organisation of American States.

    All three spoke about the common aspiration that Latin America needs foreign aid to develop economically. President Aramburu's speech was interpreted as a frank attack on nationalism and dictatorships.

    This solemn session was held in Congress Hall, and was also attended by outstanding political personalities, crowds of newsmen and public,
