Background: Early in the morning of 26th August, the Royal Marine Commandos backed by units of the Royal navy stationed at Malta staged a landing exercise at Hellika Bay admirablly suited for the purpose.

The exercise was designed to land the marines as a concerning force for a major operation in order to land transport & fighting vehicles by means of a pier formed by a special craft carrying units of a Bailey Bridge.
