Background: Tennis, and Guillermo Vilas, of Argentina, won the four-man international tournament in Buenos Aires last weekend. He beat Ilie Nastase, of Rumania, in the final 2-6, 7-6, 6-3.
SYNOPSIS: Vilas, in the light shirt, serving to save set point. At this stage in the final, Nastase was leading by five games to two in the first set. A total of 13,000 dollars was at stake in the round-robin tournament, which was played on an artificial surface.
Nastase won the first set 6-2, and he fought hard to take the second and clinch the final.
But Vilas took the second set 7-6, and Nastase just could not get back into the game. Nastase serving....but he lost that point too, and went on to lose game, set and match. Vilas took the final 2-6, 7-6, 6-3....and with it 9,000 dollars in prize money. There was some consolation for Nastase, though. He picked up 4,000 dollars as runner-up.
