    Citizens were out on May 7, Wednesday in the square before the Sailors House of Murmansk Sea-Line to unveil a war memorial to commemorate the joint struggle of participants in the Anti-hitler Coalition in the Second World War.

    Attending the rally was Australian Ambassador to the USSR James Plimsoll, a British delegation headed by Captain R.F. Turner, a US delegation led by the U.S.War Veterans Committee Admiral Samuel Frankel, Canadian Armed Forces Attache (Navy) H.R. Waddle, Norwegian Defence Attache Col.A.L. Lerheim.

    1. The ceremony at the rally was declared open by mayor of murmansk Victor Romanenko. He said that Murmansk Sea-Port handled each forth ton of shipments from the USA and Britain.

    2. Mr.Mark Suchkov, former pilot (wearing hat, grey overcoat, striped white shirt) for the allied vessels during the war.

    3. Mr Georgi Krasnogorsky (dark-rimmed glasses) was responsible during the war for unloading the vessels of the Allies. In the period Nazis rained more than 180 thousand high-explosive and incendiary bombs.
